CHET is a Christian-based educational institution, and as such, intends to create a learning environment shaped by biblical principles. We recognize that not all students will be followers of Jesus, nonetheless, we intend to create an atmosphere of behavior in harmony with what we understand the Scriptures to teach. We welcome non-Christians as students in our programs, but will require behavior that is reflective of our Biblical Worldview. This includes patterns of both speech and behavior, particularly in CHET-related settings. That which is not in harmony with those expectations will be addressed. This would include a gracious conversation, and in the case of intentional propagation and promotion against those standards, a student may be dismissed from the program.
All classes will be taught from a biblical worldview. The importance of this cannot be overstated.
CHET affirms that the biblical pattern of intimate sexual activities should be exclusively between one man and one woman, as created by God at conception, only within the bounds of marriage. (Gen 2:18-25)
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27.) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
CHET also affirms that God creates each person as male or female as indicated by biology and is not a “fluid” situation, but is fixed at conception. The code of conduct for our CHET students means each will be expected to dress in conformance with one’s biological sex and use the restrooms, locker rooms, and changing facilities conforming with one’s biological sex.
This means that anything outside of this pattern falls outside of God’s design, and while healthy discussion is welcomed and encouraged, the promotion or visible practices of sexuality in CHET-related settings contrary to the above statement will be addressed.
CHET stands upon truth as a foundational element. As such, we believe that truth is objective, and not dictated by emotions or internal feelings. Therefore, as a necessary consequence of our beliefs, when referring to or addressing any individual, we will only use gender/sexuality pronouns that do not contradict the gender/sex that the individual possessed at birth. We will not cater to any student that demands to be referred to exclusively as “they/them” or any other pronoun that contradicts the gender/sex they had at birth…Likewise, faculty, staff, volunteers, students, families, and guests, while at a CHET function and in the context of any CHET-related activity, will abide by the foregoing principle.
We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of CHET, and to provide a biblical role model to the CHET members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by CHET in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, or parents and students at CHET, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality. ( Phil 2:14-16; 1 Thess. 5:22.) Parents with students younger than 7th grade may use their discretion in addressing these policies with their children.
6th grade and under: we ask parents to initial for their child to confirm you have addressed these materials as you believe to be necessary.
The preceding policies have been established by the CHET Board. It is the Board of Director’s responsibility to make and uphold all policies. Revised 3/31/22
